We are committed to serving God with our time and talents. God has given us everything we need in order to serve Him – the Word of God and people. There are many opportunities to help you find your place and your God-given ministry so that you can serve Him. Each ministry area offers a range of volunteer opportunities from weekly to special events. We want to help you find a place to serve that best fits your gifts, experience, passion and availability. We look forward to serving together!
Nursery/PreK
Serving in the nursery is a great fit for you if you enjoy rocking babies, reading books, and singing songs to infants and toddlers!
Welcome/Check In Team (Wednesday Night)
Members of the check-in team will have the responsibility of greeting the children with excitement and a smile as they come in. Duties also include getting each child checked into our computer system, escorting them to their classroom, and keeping the Children’s Hall secure. As the worship time concludes, this team will also assist in retrieving children from their classrooms and escorting them back to their parents. Additionally, the welcome team will be responsible for keeping a watchful eye on safety concerns and alerting the team leader/security team.
Tech Team
Members of the tech team will serve on Wednesday nights during our children’s programs. Their responsibilities will include running sound and video, as well as assisting with any other audio/visual needs.
Special Needs Buddy- As Needed
This is a wonderful opportunity to serve those in the special needs community. Duties for this position include being partnered one-on-one with a child with special needs during services and making sure they are involved, learning, safe, and having a good time.
Special Events
This avenue of service is a great way to get involved in our quarterly family events. These events will require a great team to get things set up, taken down, and make sure things run smoothly. This position also includes serving at outreach events such as Rock the Block.
Prayer Team
This team is crucial to our Children’s Ministry. Duties are to be in prayer for decisions within the ministry and special events, prayer over Children’s Ministry team members, as well as prayer for the parents and children that we serve.
Extended Session
Assist in children’s ministry during the 10:30 worship hour. Needed one time a month.
Choir
The Luke 4:18 Choir is a group of singers who gather to lead our congregation in praise and worship to our God. They seek to use their gifts to lift high the name of Jesus and encourage others to truly worship in song. Our choir sings during Sunday morning worship and for special events throughout the year. Practice is on Wednesdays starting at 7:15 p.m.
Orchestra
The Luke 4:18 Orchestra is a group of dedicated musicians who want to use the gift of music to worship the Father through their instruments. The orchestra meets along with the choir on Wednesdays at 7:15 p.m. to prepare an offering of praise for Sunday morning services and special events throughout the year. All instruments are encouraged to join the orchestra and praise the Lord with us as we lead the congregation in praise and worship.
Sound/Media Team
The Luke 4:18 Audio/Visual Team is a group of believers who produce all the technical facets of our worship gatherings, including sound engineering, slide presentations and graphics, announcements, and livestream services. They are a vital part of running a coherent and cohesive worship gathering that engages the eyes and ears of the congregation. This team has a part in both Sunday and Wednesday services and is active in most special events throughout the year.
Creative Team
The Luke 4:18 Creative Team develops engaging illustrations and media to support the vision of the pastors and teams in all areas of the church. Their mission is to develop and implement ways to speak to the heart of the congregation through video, music, spoken word, social media, or any other creative avenue to more clearly convey the Word of God in every way we serve at Luke 4:18 Fellowship.
Hospital Visits
We seek to minister to our members that are in the hospital. Your Life Group Leader will let you know which members of your Life Group are in the hospital so you can encourage, pray with and visit our members. Often times this is also a way to minister to family members as they walk through their loved one's hospital stay.
Homebound Visits/Ministry
We seek to make weekly contact to all of our homebound members. This area of serving includes making phone calls, sending cards, and making visits.
Ushers
An usher is a vital part of any church service. They should be cheerful, friendly, and have a heart to help and serve others. Duties include escorting individuals to their seats or directing them to empty seats in the Worship Center. This is especially important during the first 10-15 minutes after a service starts for those who arrive late, and in many cases are a first time guest.
Greeters
A greeter is the first face a guest or member will see as they are welcomed into the building. Twenty minutes prior to our Sunday services, greeters stand at the appointed entrance and hold the door open for those entering the building. They should be familiar with our campus and ministries in order to direct visitors to the appropriate place.
If you love home projects or organizing, then this may be the place for you. Serving opportunities range from campus maintenance projects, facilities set-up or administrative work throughout the week. You will be contacted when needs arise.
The Evangelism Team offers different opportunities to serve ranging from helping during the alter call to pray with individuals that have come forward to sharing the gospel at different church sponsored events. Training will be available on a regular basis. Those who are part of this team could also serve at the KNOW table in the lobby where Brother David will direct individuals with questions about faith and salvation.
Mobile
We have multiple partnerships with local ministries right here in Mobile. There are opportunities to serve in different ways to support their ongoing work right here in our city. Let us know if you would like to join us as we engage Mobile for Christ.
United States
We are working to develop a partnership within a few hours’ drive to help a local congregation reach their city for Christ. More information is coming soon about this partnership.
World
We financially support many missionaries serving around the world. We also take short-term mission trips to share the love and message of Christ with a lost and dying world. Sign up if you are interested in participating in a short-term mission trip.
We would like to have a group prepared to serve our community or nearby affected communities when disaster strikes. If you would like to be notified when we send a group, sign up here for training.
